Job Overview

The Accident Benefits Representative II-Return to Work, contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party small injury claims falling under relevant legislation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Interpret policy wordings, determines policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving
  • Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers, representatives, health care community partners and related providers/resources to assess RTW plan and goal dates in collaboration with all involved
  • Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
  • Prepares files for arbitration or litigation
  • Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
  • Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner
  • Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Insurance experience
  • Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated experience with return to work (RTW) activities for cases at risk in order to drive RTW outcomes
  • Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • College/University degree is preferred
