The Senior Social Investment Advisor, U.S. role will manage the Social Investment and Community Sponsorship program in the U.S. This includes overseeing the U.S. Social Investment and Sponsorship portfolios, leading significant community sponsorships and partnerships, building and implementing community sponsorship and partnership activations and growing the employee giving program, Cenovus Cares. Additionally, the advisor will work closely in partnership with leadership, internal groups like communications, human resources and regional communications to advance business priorities.
The role is located in Dublin, OH and reports directly to the Manager, Social Investment in Calgary, Canada.
What you’ll do:
Manage and oversee the Social Investment program in the U.S. with a particular focus on where Cenovus has operations and employees living and working. This includes:
Building partnerships with charities and non-profits to deliver on Cenovus’s Social Investment global strategy and the program’s goals
Building creative activation plans to demonstrate partnerships with key collaborators and increase awareness
In support of the U.S. integrated engagement plan, and in partnership with regional communications, identifying, negotiating and leading the activation of significant community sponsorships
Providing guidance to and collaborating with regional communications to provide expert guidance on local budgets and partnership opportunities
Activating global Social Investment initiatives in the U.S. mostly focused in Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota
Promoting and advancing unique opportunities to increase participation in the employee giving and volunteering program, Cenovus Cares
Leading the U.S. Social Investment budget in partnership with other key, internal partners
Collaborates across the business, with leadership and business functions and assets, to demonstrate partnerships to realize full potential and value, which includes but is not limited to, senior leadership, Human Resources, Government Relations, Communications, etc.
Partners with communications to design communications plans to demonstrate community partnerships and sponsorships and employee engagement stories through various channels (i.e. social media, website, traditional media and speaking engagements etc.)
Provides expert counsel on the social issues landscape and brings forward emerging social issues of material importance to the business and key partner groups in the U.S.
Attend and represent Cenovus at key sector and partnership events and announcements
Who you are:
Bachelors degree is required, in the areas of business administration/commerce (e.g.: finance/accounting, marketing), non-profit management or related fields
8-10 years of demonstrated, progressive experience in related fields (e.g.: social investment, sponsorship marketing, non-profit sector)
Create U.S. Social Investment plan to deliver on strategic objectives, in collaboration with regional communications and headquarters
Collaborate with communications to design a communications plan to increase engagement and awareness
Establishes regular processes and routines for leadership engagement
Track progress and performance against plan
Accountable for the U.S. Social Investment budget and governance oversight in collaboration with regional communications
Skilled in partnership negoatiations – experienced and competent at leading multi-lateral partnership agreement and sponsorship contract negotiations
Collaborative and inclusive - ability to work with leadership and across teams and functions internally and with a cross section of diverse, external partners
Creative, critical and strategic thinker - ability to think of creative and engaging ways to activate partnerships to achieve multiple business objectives
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills – ability to design presentations and deliver messages to diverse audiences; is comfortable presenting and speaking to large and small groups
Outstanding organizational skills - excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize for impact and lead multiple initiatives at once
Understanding of not for profit/charitable sectors and sponsorship landscape would be considered an asset
