Industrial Automation & Robotics Field Service Technician Company: InterGlobe Robotics Location: Brampton, Ontario (Travel across Ontario and Canada as required) About Us InterGlobe Robotics is a Canadian industrial automation company specializing in industrial robotics, automation systems, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), machine vision, robot spare parts, preventive maintenance, field service, and technical support. As part of the InterGlobe Alliance, we provide engineering, service, commissioning, maintenance, and automation solutions to manufacturers across Canada. Position Summary The successful candidate will perform field service, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, commissioning, and technical support for industrial robotic systems. When field assignments are limited, the technician will support other technical operations within InterGlobe Alliance, including forklift service assistance, equipment preparation, shop support, and automation projects. Key Responsibilities • Preventive maintenance of industrial robots and robotic cells • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, servo and control system failures • Repair gearboxes, servo motors, encoders, harnesses, controllers, teach pendants and cables • Robot mastering, calibration, TCP verification and payload setup • Installation, commissioning and emergency breakdown support • Prepare service reports and recommend spare parts • Maintain service tools and inventory • Support refurbishment of robots and controllers • Identify opportunities for PM contracts, upgrades and retrofit projects • Follow all customer and company safety procedures Robot Platforms Strong experience with at least one or preferably two major robot brands such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa Motoman or Kawasaki. Universal Robots is an asset. PLC & Controls Knowledge Candidates are not expected to be PLC programmers but should have basic working knowledge of: • Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC platforms • Monitoring PLC diagnostics • Reading digital and analog I/O • Uploading/downloading PLC backups under engineering supervision • Basic HMI navigation • Ethernet/IP and PROFINET fundamentals • Distinguishing PLC, robot, network and peripheral faults Additional Technical Skills • Read electrical schematics • Use multimeters and electrical test equipment • 24VDC control circuits • Safety relays and safety circuits • Servo drives and VFD basics • Pneumatic and vacuum systems • Industrial sensors • Basic industrial networking • Machine vision exposure is considered an asset Qualifications • Diploma or Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline • Minimum 5 years of industrial robotics experience • Strong customer service and communication skills • Ability to travel frequently • Valid Ontario G Driver's License • Valid passport preferred Additional Responsibilities During periods with limited field service activities, the technician will support InterGlobe Alliance by assisting with: • Forklift inspection and repair support • Warehouse equipment maintenance • Automation equipment assembly and testing • Shop organization and inventory • Engineering and project support • Technical training and product demonstrations This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, teamwork and continuous learning.
