Responsibilities Security Patrol & Loss Prevention Conduct regular foot patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment. Monitor the property to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. Enforce property rules, policies, and access control procedures professionally and consistently. Deal with trespassers and unauthorized individuals in a safe, respectful, and professional manner. Maintain the safety and security of clients, employees, visitors, and property. Emergency Response & Incident Management Respond promptly to medical emergencies, alarms, and security incidents. Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance until emergency responders arrive. Follow established emergency and standard operating procedures. De-escalate conflicts and crisis situations using sound judgment and effective communication. Assist police, fire, EMS, and other emergency personnel when required. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate daily logs, memo books, and security records. Investigate incidents and prepare clear, detailed incident and occurrence reports. Report hazards, suspicious activity, and security concerns promptly. Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and professionally. Customer Service & Professional Conduct Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining a visible security presence. Communicate professionally with clients, visitors, employees, and the public. Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and professionalism in all interactions. Assist with line management, access control, and other site operations as required. Support daily operational needs as directed by site leadership. Surveillance & Site Safety Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious or unusual activity. Maintain situational awareness and respond proactively to security concerns. Conduct routine security inspections to identify potential risks and safety hazards. Support a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone on site. Required Qualifications Valid British Columbia Security Worker Licence. Valid OFA Level 1 (Occupational First Aid) Certificate. Minimum 1 year of security experience. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Strong customer service, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations. High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12-hour shifts). Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, both indoors and outdoors. Ability to work in busy, high-traffic locations and handle stressful situations effectively. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in Retail Security or Loss Prevention. Experience with CCTV monitoring, access control, and incident reporting. Strong observational skills and the ability to identify potential security risks proactively. Physical & Working Conditions Ability to stand, walk, and conduct foot patrols for extended periods. Comfortable working in various weather conditions and high-traffic environments. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and unexpected situations. Ability to maintain focus, professionalism, and situational awareness throughout the shift. Performance Expectations Complete patrols and assigned duties accurately and on time. Respond professionally and effectively to incidents and emergencies. Produce accurate, detailed, and timely reports. Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a strong security presence. Consistently follow company policies, site procedures, and safety standards. Required Certification Valid British Columbia Security Licence. Valid OFA Level 1 Certificate.
