Sr Developer - Autodesk Vault & CAD Administrator and Applications Support Eng

Join a leading utility organization as a Sr. Developer - Autodesk Vault Administrator and CAD Administrator, and Applications Support Engineer and play a vital role in powering Canada's infrastructure. In this dynamic position, you will provide expert-level operational support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for critical engineering design applications, ensuring seamless workflows for the Power Generation Engineering Department. Your hands-on expertise with Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, and related CAD/PDM platforms will be instrumental in maintaining data integrity, optimizing design processes, and supporting complex electrical and mechanical engineering projects. Responsibilities
Administer and support Autodesk Vault environments, including user access, permissions, security controls, lifecycle states, revisions, document check-in/check-out, and engineering data integrity. Provide CAD administration and application support for AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Inventor used by engineering design, drafting, and power generation teams. Support engineering design workflows involving drawings, models, BOMs, component libraries, wire numbering, cable schedules, schematics, and design documentation. Troubleshoot application crashes, performance issues, Vault synchronization, file locking, revision control, plugin compatibility, and CAD data management issues. Support installation, configuration, packaging, deployment, patching, upgrades, and license administration for Autodesk and related engineering applications. Provide support for SDS/UDH or equivalent utility design toolkits, add-ins, and integrations used with AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Inventor. Coordinate with business users, engineering SMEs, infrastructure teams, database teams, vendors, and product support teams to resolve incidents and implement changes. Analyze incidents and recurring problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve application stability and user experience. Support engineering document control, digital signatures/seals, record retention, audit evidence, and secure handling of engineering data where applicable. Participate in change, release, deployment validation, regression testing, and post-implementation support activities for application updates and version upgrades. Prepare and maintain SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles, configuration guides, release notes, support handover documents, and troubleshooting procedures. Follow ITIL, security, access control, compliance, and change management processes applicable to engineering application support.
Qualifications Required:
7-10 years of IT and engineering application support experience, with proven expertise in Autodesk Vault administration, including user/security management, lifecycle and revision control, and troubleshooting. Strong hands-on experience supporting AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Inventor, covering electrical schematic workflows, component tagging, wire numbering, BOM management, and 3D modeling. Proficiency in application deployment, licensing, patching, upgrades, and plugin compatibility validation. Knowledge of CAD standards, templates, libraries, plotting, and publishing workflows. Solid understanding of engineering document management, revision lifecycle, and design collaboration processes. Experience with Windows desktop/server troubleshooting, PowerShell scripting, and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Azure DevOps. Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, CAD designers, and technical teams. Familiarity with utility industry environments, power generation, and regulated engineering practices is preferred. Experience supporting SDS/UDH or equivalent utility design toolkits and integrations. Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems and engineering document lifecycle management. Experience with application packaging, SCCM/Intune, or similar deployment tools. Awareness of security protocols and compliance standards in regulated utilities. API or scripting experience (e.g., iLogic, API development) for automation and customization.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Direct experience working in power generation, transmission, distribution, or substation engineering environments is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work independently and coordinate with onsite and offshore teams. Willingness to adhere to ITIL, security, and change management practices. Willingness to support after-hours or on-call activities as needed.
