ABOUT THE ROLE

Work Model: Front Line

The Community Services Division is seeking a qualified candidate to assist our full-time staff with the maintenance and operation of our municipally operated recreation facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with the cleaning, maintenance, and overall upkeep of municipal facilities, buildings, and associated areas.
  • Performing routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing floors and surfaces using approved cleaning products, equipment, and procedures.
  • Cleaning and maintaining walls, ceilings, windows, washrooms, change rooms, fixtures, furnishings, and other building features to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Set up, take down, and arranging room layouts for meetings, programs, special events, and facility rentals.
  • Monitoring facility conditions and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, equipment issues, or supply shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Providing courteous, professional, and responsive customer service to patrons, staff, renters, and members of the public.
  • Operating custodial equipment and handling cleaning products safely and in accordance with WHMIS requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Performing all duties in compliance with applicable health and safety legislation, corporate policies, departmental procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A minimum of Grade 12 Secondary School education. 
  • Experience and knowledge of custodial and building maintenance and ability to follow assigned work routines is essential.
  • Ability to safely operate floor care and cleaning equipment, including sweepers, scrubbers, mops, and related custodial tools.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, WHMIS training, and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) are considered assets.
  • Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety practices. 
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Rate of pay: $20.93 per hour (2026 rate).
  • Hours of work: up to a maximum of 24 hours per week
  • Variable schedule Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A satisfactory criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate.
