Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Production Support Specialist.

The Production Service Technician is a detail-oriented member of the Facilities and Maintenance team and is primarily responsible for the management of temporary services in support of production operations and will become a subject matter expert for assigned infrastructure and systems, related primarily to electrical, mechanical infrastructure including industrial gases, ventilation systems, heating systems and fire systems.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

· Education: Professional Engineering Technologist or relevant professional body is desirable.

o Project Management Institute as a PMP is desirable.

o Red Seal pipe, electrical or millwright

o Electrical or mechanical Engineering Technology diploma

o Red seal trade plus project management experience

· Experience: Electrical or mechanical Engineering Technology diploma with minimum 5-8+ years' experience or 5plus years trade and shipbuilding experience.

· Planning or project management experience

· Electrical or mechanical industry experience in an industrial manufacturing environment managing electrical infrastructure services, with direct experience overseeing commissioning and maintenance of systems distribution and equipment.

· Experience planning and managing electrical and mechanical infrastructure in a manufacturing environment to support operations.

· Considerable experience in the management of multiple projects and assignments.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, Schedule, and Manage temporary electrical and mechanical services throughout the yard in support of new build and ship repair operations:

· Managing work through internal and external stakeholders

· Manage sub-contractors daily for work performed and ensure safety.

· Lead sufficient communication with all project stake holders.

· Audit systems to ensure they are meeting performance specs and regulatory requirements.

Manage capital and expense projects to ensure successful project cost, schedule, and safety.

· Responsible for project initiation, execution, and completion

· Oversee project design activities and field construction.

· Responsible for project budget

· Responsible for annual budget planning

Manage and provide technical expertise related to temporary services to ensure business continuity:

· Develop functional requirements, specs, and diagrams to support various electrical and instrumentation assignments.

· Develop and maintain minimum stocking requirements for system components and spares.

· Develop and implement project, safety, and quality management plans:

· Ensure regulatory compliance for all activities.

· Ensure all projects completed safely.

· Ensure all projects meet or exceed quality requirements.

Continuous improvement and development of process maps and work instructions outlining best practices for managing various temporary systems.
